The whole route has been divided into
13 cycling stages
with 2 rest days in
Siena and Santo Stefano di Sessanio. The cycling days have mostly the
same schedule : a start early in the morning and cycle
the distance at own speed to the next place.
The stages have an average length of 85 kilometres,
depending on the profile and the locations of hotels.
The whole route follows almost every-where quiet cycling
roads where you can enjoy the Italian countryside. The
course varies from winding roads along the coast, to
steep shorts hills inland, and long challenging climbs
in the Apennines. The average elevation gain is roughly
1.500 meters per day, so don't forget your mountain
gears.
Participants which want to challenge themselves even a
bit more, can make extra loops or can climb some extra
cols of the Giro d'Italia
and Tirreno-Adriatico
race.
The day into, and out of, Siena you can choose to cycle
over the white gravel roads of the
Strade Bianche, a
professional road race which is inspired by the most
famous vintage bike ride in the world, l'Eroica.

At the start in Genoa you get an extensive tour guide
with background information about the route. We advise
you to bring a GPS which has the option to upload files.
It is a very helpful device to find the correct way
without looking at detailed maps or an overload of
instructions. |
