The whole route has been divided into
22 cycling stages with 4 rest
days in Nantes, Brest, Saint Malo and Étretat.
The cycling days have mostly the same schedule : a start
early in the morning and cycle the distance at own speed
to the next place. The daily distance depends on the
location of interesting sites and the locations of
suitable accommodation. It's an average of around
110 kilometres per day.
The whole route follows mainly quiet roads and cycle
paths. We have tried to find an enjoyable combination
between pleasant rides along the Loire and Seine, scenic
roads along the coast, and here and there an iconic
place of the rich Tour de France history. Most of the
route rolls slightly up and down, but you don't have to
expect serious climbs. The granny gears you can leave
this time at home.
At the start in Paris you get an extensive tour guide
with background information about the route.
A GPS which
has the option to upload files is essential and very
helpful to find the correct way without looking at
detailed maps and an overload of instructions. |
