Covid-19
The Poppies Pieter Pad will
be arranged taking into account the Covid-19 measures of
that moment (which are uncertain at the time of
publication). If the measures regarding Covid-19 allow
hotels to be open and to provide meals, we have the
opinion that we can organize the Poppies Pieter Pad in
a safe and responsible manner.
It is important to see the Poppies Pieter Pad as much
as possible as an individual tour and
to act accordingly. Bike-Dreams arranges the
organization and takes care of the logistics. Of course
we are helpful to solve possible problems.
It is in everyone's interest that we start the journey
healthy, but it is equally important to finish it like
that. Not only for ourselves, but also for everyone
around us. |

Description
Every cyclist is familiar with the period when nature is
in full bloom, when spring shows its best side, bright
flowers giving the land a sparkling colour, and the
cycling muscles are longing to some extra exercise. Why
not a serious multi-day challenge at the end of the
lockdown? Criss-cross through the woods and straight
across the moorland. Enjoy spring to the max and in the
evening hours a delicious dinner with cycling friends.
We would like to welcome you to the Poppies
Pieter Pad.
We organize the "Poppies Pieter Pad" in the Netherlands,
traversing the entire country from North to South;
completely cross country. And in the Netherlands there
is no better route than to follow the number one among
the hiking trails: the Pieterpad.
The path runs from Pieterburen at the Wadden Sea in
northern Groningen to the Sint-Pietersberg in South
Limburg. It meanders through the rich clay in Groningen,
the sandy soils of Drenthe, the Sallandse Heuvelrug, the
leafy Achterhoek, the undulating Montferland and finally
the elongated, varied Limburg. Each region has its own
landscapes, characteristic villages and picturesque
spots.
The route often runs through beautiful forest areas
where fresh green leaves appear on the trees. As soon as
the landscape opens up and changes to moors or meadows,
a strong wind can always pop up. Poppies, daisies, broom
and dozens of other wild flowers give the border a
colourful look. You can hear the gravel crackling softly
under your tires when you cycle on unknown tracks.
Simply wonderful. There will be moments when you can
enjoy it to the fullest as the spring sun shows its best
side, but certainly also moments of suffering when the
weather gods are less favourable to us. A feeling that
every experienced cyclist will recognize.
The Pieterpad follows the smaller roads and trails when
possible, and are unpaved for about half of the route.
The sections that are only accessible to hikers or that
are too technical are avoided. However, we try to
include as many gravel roads and other unpaved paths as
possible in the final route.
Of course we hope for beautiful sunny days with pleasant
temperatures, but rain and cold are certainly not
excluded at this time of the year. You can expect a
temperature between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius, but don't
forget to bring cycling gear for worse circumstances.
Good or bad weather, we make sure that your engine keeps
running well and that a delicious dinner, a hot shower
and a comfortable bed in a nice hotel is waiting at the
end of the day. Luxury that you absolutely deserve after
an active day outdoors.
The tour starts on
Thursday May 13th, 2021 in Pieterburen.
After 5 days and more than 500 kilometers across the
Netherlands, we finish at the Sint-Pietersberg near
Maastricht.
After months of limited freedom due to the strict corona
measures, there is no better way for enthusiastic
cyclists to hit the road again for a multi-day tour. A
road which is called the Poppies Pieterpad.
